Constraining Martian Regolith and Vortex Parameters From Combined Seismic and Meteorological Measurements

چکیده
The InSight mission landed on Mars in November 2018 and has since observed multiple convective vortices with both the high performance barometer low-noise seismometer SEIS that unprecedented sensitivity. Here, we present a new method uses simultaneous pressure seismic measurements of to place constraints elastic properties Martian subsurface vortex properties, while also allowing reconstruction trajectories. From data filtered (0.02–0.3 Hz) frequency band, estimate mean value η (η = E/[1 − ν2], where E is Young's modulus ν Poisson's ratio) ground region around 239 ± 140 MPa. In addition, suggest previously reported paucity observations west may be due fact harder than east, consistent geomorphological surface interpretations.

Constraining Cosmological Parameters with Cmb Measurements
The current enthusiam to measure fluctuations in the CMB power spectrum at angular scales between 0.1 and 1 is largely motivated by the expectation that CMB determinations of cosmological parameters will be of unprecedented precision. In such circumstances it is important to estimate what we can already say about the cosmological parameters. In two recent papers (Lineweaver et al. 1997a & 1997b...
متن کاملIsotopic Evidence for a Martian Regolith Component in Martian Meteorites
Introduction: Noble gas measurements in gas-rich impact-melt (GRIM) glasses in EET79001 shergottite showed that their elemental and isotopic composition is similar to that of the Martian atmosphere [1-3]. The GRIM glasses contain large amounts of Martian atmospheric gases. Those measurements further suggested that the Kr isotopic composition of Martian atmosphere is approximately similar to tha...
متن کاملRobust and Elastic Lunar and Martian Structures from 3D-Printed Regolith Inks
Here, we present a comprehensive approach for creating robust, elastic, designer Lunar and Martian regolith simulant (LRS and MRS, respectively) architectures using ambient condition, extrusion-based 3D-printing of regolith simulant inks. The LRS and MRS powders are characterized by distinct, highly inhomogeneous morphologies and sizes, where LRS powder particles are highly irregular and jagged...
متن کاملComparison of Martian Meteorites and Martian Regolith as Shield Materials for Galactic Cosmic Rays
Theoretical calculations of radiation attenuation due to energetic galactic cosmic rays behind Martian rock and Martian regolith material have been made to compare their utilization as shields for advanced manned missions to Mars because the detailed chemical signature of Mars is distinctly different from Earth. The modified radiation fields behind the Martian rocks and the soil model were gene...
متن کاملSulfur Speciation in the Martian Regolith Component in Shergottite Glasses
Introduction: We have shown that Gas-Rich Impact-Melt (GRIM) glasses in Shergotty, Zagami, and EET79001 (Lith A and Lith B) contain Martian regolith components that were molten during impact and quenched into glasses in voids of host rock materials based on neutron-capture isotopes, i.e., 150 Sm excesses and 149 Sm deficits in Sm, and 80 Kr excesses produced from Br [1, 2]. These GRIM glasses a...
